Whether you were at church the next morning or having brunch, everywhere you turned on Sunday, Oct. 18, 1992, someone was talking about that long-haired, freshman quarterback who upset Mississippi State in Columbia the day before.
Steve Taneyhill, seen here during that game, was given his first start by head coach Sparky Woods in hopes of bringing life to a team that was on a 10-game losing streak.
Taneyhill did just that, guiding the Gamecocks to a 14-0 halftime lead and helping South Carolina get their first-ever, SEC win with a 21-6 victory.
The patch he's wearing celebrated 100 years of Gamecock football.
